7 little self-care tips for lazy people to start today

Self-care should be a priority, and yet so many of us forget about the physical and mental rewards of this regime. It’s when laziness becomes your habit and getting back to a rewarding routine seems like a mountain to climb.

The good news is that you can overcome your procrastination and start self-care today with these seven fundamental changes to your lifestyle.

1- Stretch your body when you wake up

It’s important to stretch your body for 10-15 minutes when you wake up. The benefits of stretching after you have rested for 8 hours are huge. Your heart will pump faster, and you will have more oxygen to start the day. If you find it difficult to do a few exercises in the morning, get a ceiling mounted pull up bar and do a few pull-ups before you take your morning coffee.

When you stretch your body after resting for the night, your muscles will release endorphin. This chemical substance makes you feel better by reducing pain. You will love your mornings and begin the day with a lot of positive energy.

2- Meditate every day

Meditation is easy, even for the laziest people in the world. It takes only a few minutes and helps you direct your energy in the right direction.

When you meditate, you allow yourself to find a clear direction. You will realize your goals and think about ways to get there. Your brain benefits from this activity and develops perspective.

To enjoy rewards of meditation, you should focus on yourself and think about what you want to achieve in your life. Envision how you will find motivation to bring these changes and how to achieve your goals in life. Think about what you are doing wrong and how to improve your life. Most importantly, think about what needs to change in your life.

3- Spend 15 minutes in the sun

Sun is the source of life on this planet. It gives energy to everything. If you don’t spend time in the sun, your body will suffer from vitamin D deficiency and your bones will weaken over time.

Too much of the sun isn’t good for your skin but spending a few minutes in the sun will increase serotonin levels and boost your mood. Natural light triggers serotonin, which is considered an important factor in helping you feel focused and balanced.

During the night, your brain releases another hormone known as melatonin. It slows down your motor functions and makes you feel sleepy. If you don’t get out in the sun and let your skin absorb natural light, your brain will have too much melatonin and too little serotonin. This can lead to seasonal affective disorder (SAD).

Moderate exposure to sunlight can heal several skin conditions and provide cancer-preventive benefits. Be sure to use sunscreen if you are going to stay in the sun for long. Overexposure could contribute to skin cancer.

4- Unplug and learn to relax

Several studies have proven that you are most productive when you spend a few minutes of focused relaxation after an hour of focused attention. For focused relaxation, it’s important to unplug. If your mobile phone is lying on the table in front of you, you can never truly relax as some part of your brain will keep the focus on the phone.

Sometimes you might want to continue working as you feel blessed with energy. But even on those days, be sure to take a break for a few minutes and take deep breaths. You can cut the relaxation period but don’t skip it.

Even if you are not curious about increasing your productivity, you should spend some time away from electronic devices as it can improve sleep and mental health. It will also help you interact with ‘real’ people.

5- Develop some healthy morning rituals

Mornings aren’t for email only. It’s the best time to tackle high-priority tasks and exercise.

If you are looking for tips, here is a well-balanced morning routine, full of healthy and rewarding rituals that even the laziest people can follow.

  • Drink water
  • Do some stretching or spend 5 minutes on your ceiling mounted pull up bar
  • Take a cold shower unless it’s too cold outside
  • Take time out for dental care
  • Read something inspirational
  • Set your goals for the day

6- Learn to care for your skin

Your skin is the largest part of your body. It absorbs nutrients from the sun and gives you an outlook. It’s part of your identity. There is every reason to love it.

One of the best things you can do with your skin is to allow it to absorb minerals. Try an organic shower using an organic body lotion.

7- Eat a healthy diet

Eat more fruits and vegetables. Stop eating sugar and processed foods to give your body a chance to repair. Healthy eating will provide you with a boost of energy and keep your body in perfect shape. You will become more productive, and your life will improve. Amazingly, you will become more active and energetic.
